Ingrid's Teaching Staff
INGRID PETTUS - Artistic Director
Ingrid has been involved with the dance world for over 22 years. She is the director of the award-winning Interpose Dance Company, a competitive dance group with ages ranging from 10 to 18. She has studied with the Joffrey Ballet and New York City Ballet. Ingrid has performed with Dance Theater of Harlem, Terry Creach, Stephen Koester, Vicki Uris of Paul Taylor Company and Bebe Miller. She received a Bachelors degree of Fine Arts in Dance emphasizing performance and choreography from VCU. Ingrid is a member of Dance Educators of America with high honors and perfect exam scores. This year, Ingrid has been a guest teacher at Longwood College and Henrico School of the Arts. She is a member of the adjunct faculty of Louisburg College in North Carolina and also teaches at Ballet Arts Studio in Henderson, N.C. Ingrid is now a member of the steering committee for the new Performing Arts Center in Chesterfield County at Thomas Dale High School. This year Ingrid choreographed "Camelot" for Midlothian High School.
SHAWN UMSTEAD - Instructor
Shawn has been dancing for 12 years. She was a student of Ingrid's for seven years and has been teaching for Ingrid for five years. Shawn has also coached and choreographed for several cheering associations in the Chesterfield County community. Shawn has been employed at Capital One for two years. She and Lee, her husband of three years, recently bought their first home.
MANDY WALTON - Instructor
Mandy has been dancing for 15 years. She has been with Ingrid since her opening in 1993. She has been a member of Interpose Dance Company for seven years. She graduated with honors from Powhatan High School in 1999 and she just finished her freshman year at VCU. She is majoring in Child Psychology with a minor in Dance. Mandy loves all her students and enjoys the opportunity to teach them.
